Specialist shipping, insurance and energy publisher Witherby knew that time was almost up for its outdated Microsoft Commerce Centre sites.
As one ecommerce chapter closed, Witherby were ready to start a new one with Magento but they needed a partner that could read between the lines and deliver a seamless migration.
Not being open source, Witherby’s existing platform was inflexible with a restricted infrastructure, meaning any alterations were expensive and required lengthy testing to ensure compatibility.
Convinced that the e-Commerce opportunities provided by Magento were far superior, Witherby were concerned about the complexity of migrating data to a new platform.
The challenge was on to find an expert Magento partner to rebuild the current e-Commerce websites on a new platform with effective data migration and back office integration.
A complex data migration was performed from Witherby’s bespoke ERP/CRM system into the new sites, recreating the familiar corporate identity they wished to retain, but with all the flexibility offered by the Magento platform.
Magento’s multi-site feature simplified the creation of multiple sites and Cohesion Digital incorporated several powerful functions into the build including:
– Full integration with Witherby’s bespoke back office systems
– PCI compliant payment gateways
– Pageflip online catalogues
– Integrated helpdesk
– Tracking code integration for orders
– EU VAT lookup for corporate accounts
– Multi-currency purchasing options
In addition, Witherby felt the standard Magento search was inadequate, so we created a bespoke search extension, SearchPlus, designed for precise results and easy configuration.
“Cohesion Digital has provided the technical expertise on Magento and demonstrated an in-depth knowledge of this ecommerce platform. They have delivered a system that has exceeded our expectations and I would recommend Cohesion Digital to develop an ecommerce platform based on Magento without hesitation.”
We worked in constant collaboration with Witherby, ensuring the final sites outperformed their original expectations, in addition to reducing implementation costs relating to secondary websites.
Witherby Publishing Group’s online identity was retained and strengthened during the transition and the sales power of their sites were significantly increased by internationalisation and bespoke search functionality.
